Materials

We are constantly striving to improve the materials that we work with.

The first edition watches have:

- Cases made from 80% recycled steel (equivalent to 316L surgical grade stainless steel)

- Straps made from #tide recycled ocean plastic

- Pouch made with offcuts from clothes manufacture.

- Recycled card boxes.

You won't get a big, flashy watch box like you would with some big brands. These just take up space, which means extra transport, which means extra emissions, and they just aren't necessary.

Note: Unscrew the crown to get to 'normal position'. Screw back in after adjustment/winding.

1.How to set the time

1) Pull out the crown to the second click position.

2) Turn the crown to set hour and minute hands. (Check that AM / PM is set correctly)

3) Push the crown back into the normal position.

2.How to set the Date & Time difference

1) Pull out the crown to the first click position.

2) Turn the crown to left for date setting.

3) Push the crown back into the normal position.

WE GIVE BACK TO THE PLANET

Founder's note

"Detrash is a passion project. I love watches, but find most of them boring, and the ones that are even vaguely fun can be eye wateringly expensive (£200k - over £1m for a Richard Mille with a smiley face!). In 2023 I sold my first business and this gave me some time to look at watches properly. The main thing that amazed me was that unlike FMCG (my last business) very few companies are even trying to do anything ethical. It feels like every other industry is switching to have more of a purpose and do some good in the world, and the watch world isn't even trying. This is a massive shame, but together we can fix this" Guy Blaskey

Brilliant company and lovely product

Brilliant company trying to do good by producing excellent quality watches from recycled material. Purchased the Gotham Vigilantes watch and it a stunner! Plus wonderful customer service

Excellent

The Gotham's vigilante was sent out in excellent times and Is better than the pictures. The design shows a wonderful attention to detail- like the fact the bezel is exactly the size of the main body and the faint minute markers, which are so subtle, but work very well.
The real suprise was the dark line, I've not seen that before. So in normal light the 11 hour markers appear grey, but in the dark, they and the tips of the hands for. The line lasts several hours, not quite as good as my Seiko, but ok.
I'm very pleased, so far, and not taken it off since delivery

BATMAN!!!

Got my Gotham's vigilante for Christmas and it's been (dare I say it) a revelation.
I needed a great daily wear with small children and harsh weather here down under (NZ), and this watch has been better than expected.
I'm an avid supporter of microbrands (Baltic, Kurono Tokyo, ID Geneve etc)and early adopter, particularly if there is something a bit different and in this case the added benefit of environmental considerations is important.
The watch is much better in person, with the pictures not doing it justice (pun intended), it's also more legible than I thought it would be, the outer minute track is a really nice touch.

Only drawback so far is I'm sure how durable the black coating will be given I am a bit rough with daily wearing, but it's been going really well with both ocean and pool swimming!

Keep up the good work, I highly recommend the watches from a value, design and quality perspective!

Thanks very much (it also made it's way from the UK to NZ quickly given the time of year!),

Great Idea!

Turning a great idea into a well made product with real value is outstanding work. I’m enjoying my new watch and its different design draws lots of interest. I’ll be back for another before long. Thanks for your work.

Great company with very cool designs

Amazing watch, cool looking and beautifully built. So good I ordered another one! I will definitely be a regular customer. Great designs and the bonus is they make them using recyclable materials. I also love the fact that each design is a limited edition so you feel you’re wearing a watch that is not worn by everyone else.

Why make watches with trash?

Detrash has been created for adventurous people who want to look after the planet's natural playgrounds. The watches are made with eco-friendly materials like recycled steel and ocean plastic, so that you can get out there and show others that trash can be beatutiful, and you can inspire yourself and others to make better choices for the health of the planet.
